I am a PhD student in underwater acoustics. My main interests there are in inverse theory.
I started paddling old, heavy tandem canoes because I was interested in wilderness tripping.
When I was actually planning my first long canoe trip, I realised that some better paddling
skills would be pretty handy. Shortly after, I took a class for whitewater solo open canoe.
I had a lot of fun during that one week course and bought a Mohawk Viper pretty much right away.
Since then I have been on sveral extensive canoe trips in northern canada and got more and
more into whitewater paddling. I now really enjoy paddling steep creeks and commiting canyons
where I live, in BC. I paddle a Nomad 8.5 C1 a lot but still get a good amout of
open canoe time in.
I do the programming and stuff for this site, so any suggestions ... let me know.
Ther german article on
wilderness tripping is still online but updates will take a while.
I had most of it rewritten when I had a harddrive crash and lost it all.
Also have a look at the BC online River Guide.
That's the project my lunch time was used for in the last little while.
